Alex Everett

Alex is an Investment Manager at abrdn, where he co-manages government bond funds. Alex started his career at fixed income boutique Cameron Hume.

Alex is a CFA Charterholder and holds the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. He is Treasurer and a Trustee of St Michael and All Saints' Church, Tollcross. An organist and pianist, Alex accompanies choirs and services in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

Su Millar

Su is a dedicated third sector professional and an experienced Charity Chief Executive who has worked successfully in this leadership role for 17 years where she managed the design and delivery of complex care and support services for older people, people living with dementia and carers, within the regulated framework of the Care Inspectorate and SSSC, and alongside the provision of other much needed community support services. Su has a track record of working successfully in partnerships with others for impressive results and has worked extensively in the Third Sector in other roles since 1988. She continues to work with a number of local charities to combat social isolation, and also on a range of matters relating to the environment and has volunteered throughout her life in projects that matter to her, both locally and further afield.

Su greatly values her time with the Queensberry House Trust and feels privileged to be part of it and the vital support it gives to so many wonderful charities, large and small, in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

David Reith

 David was the Senior Partner of Lindsays Solicitors in Edinburgh for a number of years.  An experienced charity lawyer David provided advice to a wide range of Scottish-based charities on such matters as governance, management and legal issues.  Now retired, David continues his involvement in the grant-giving sector acting as a trustee on various Scottish charitable endowments.  His other roles include Clerk to the Governors of the Clark (Mile-End) Bursary Fund in Glasgow, Secretary of the Edinburgh-based Ponton House Trust, and Secretary to the Trustees of Sir Henry Wade’s Pilmuir Trust in East Lothian.

Iain Reid

Iain is a retired Chartered Accountant whose most recent management role was as CEO of the Faculty of Advocates. In the role he had overall responsibility for the running of the Faculty and its service company Faculty Services Ltd. Prior to joining the Faculty Iain was Finance Director of Sunergos Innovations Ltd, a subsidiary of Edinburgh University. Earlier in his career he held a similar role in the National Trust for Scotland and he also has experience in the IT services, financial services and property sectors. Many of his roles have involved significant corporate events including the sale of Newell & Budge to the French company, Sopra, and the demutualisation of Scottish Widows.

Richard Sloss

Richard is a former fund manager and institutional stockbroker with close to 40 years experience of investment markets.

He is currently a non-executive director of Capital for Colleagues Plc, a fund that invests in and advises employee owned businesses. He sits on the fund’s Audit, Nominations and Remuneration committees.

Richard is a member of the CFA Institute and serves on the organisation’s Scottish committee.

Roger Smith

Roger is a retired Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine, latterly based at the Royal Victoria hospital and the Western General hospital. During his career he had clinical responsibility for Queensberry House Hospital and was also a member of the Board of Directors. Following the closure of QHH Roger became a Trustee of the Queensberry House Trust in 1996.

Since retiring Roger has been involved with various charities, chairing both Viewpoint Housing Association and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.

Our Secretary

 

Callum Kennedy

Callum is the Senior Partner in the Private Client Team at Lindsays, Solicitors in Edinburgh and has considerable experience in the management of Charitable Trusts and their governance.

As Secretary, he is the main point of contact for Queensberry House Trust and his other roles include acting as Clerk to the Governors of the Lothian Homes Trust, Secretary & Treasurer of The Edinburgh Society for the Relief of Indigent Old Men and Chairman of The Edinburgh Children’s Holiday Fund. Callum also represents the Society of Writers to HM Signet as Trustee of Sir Henry Wade’s Pilmuir Trust and is a Trustee of the Society’s Annuity Fund.
